Transfer Student Enrollment Procedures
Welcome!
. . . to McPherson. We are glad you are here and hope the move to your new community will be a positive experience. Below are a few things to know that may be helpful as you enroll in our schools. If you have questions that we do not address, please contact any school or the central office.
Elementary Schools
The district has four elementary schools. A student is expected to attend the school for the area in which he or she resides. Rural areas outside the city limits have been assigned to one of the schools. The superintendent's office staff can answer questions about school location for a residence. Maps are available in all school offices.
Request for Records
Records must be requested from the student's previous school and mailed to the new school of residence in McPherson. Our school office personnel have forms for you to complete to obtain records. Please specify on the information request form to send evaluation information and a current IEP if your child has been receiving special education services.
Fees
The district charges a basic textbook rental fee for students enrolling in the schools. In addition, middle school and high school students may be charged additional fees for supplies in some specialty or elective courses.
Health Records and Assessment
Your child's immunization record is part of the permanent record and should be transferred to the new school. In Kansas the record is called the Kansas Certificate of Immunizations (KCI). The KCI form is available from the McPherson County Health Office, 1001 N. Main. Kansas Health Assessments are required for children enrolling who are eight years of age or younger and enrolling in a Kansas school for the first time.
Enrollment Days
The district establishes specific dates in early August for school enrollment. These dates can be obtained by reading the "Back to School" issue in the McPherson Sentinel toward the end of July. If students are unable to enroll at these times, contact should be made at the appropriate school building office during regular business hours prior to the first day of school.
Calendar
The district publishes a calendar of activities each year. A copy of this calendar is provided at school enrollment. The calendar has information about school activities and events as well as district policies and procedures. Copies are also available at the Central Office, 514 North Main. A one page calendar is also available.
